Belly Button Piercing Information
Pain Level 3–5/10
Pain is personal, and your experience will depend on your anatomy and your threshold. For most people, a belly button piercing is noticeable but manageable, with most of the sensation over in a moment.
Belly Button Piercing Healing Timeline
Healing Time: 6-12+ months
Belly button piercings heal slowly. This part of the body sees constant movement, pressure from clothing, and friction throughout the day, all of which affect how the healing unfolds. Even when things look calm on the surface, the tissue inside may still be working. Patience is part of the process here.
Downsizing
Not all belly button piercing need to be downsized. It is less about hitting a specific timeline and more about reading how the piercing is settling. Once the initial swelling subsides, jewelry that is too long can start to move more than it should, creating friction and slowing the healing process.
Because navel piercings are so anatomy-specific, the right timing for a jewelry adjustment depends on your tissue, your anatomy, and how your daily life affects the area. We will guide that decision with you carefully rather than rushing toward a fixed date.
A piercing begins in the studio, but the healing happens with you. We require a six-week check-up for every client, so we can take a look at how things are healing, talk through any questions, and offer guidance.
