Ear Piercing Information
Pain Level 1–3/10
Pain is personal, so this can vary. For most people, lobe piercings are one of the easier ear piercings to get.
Ear Piercing Healing Timeline
Healing Time: 12–15+ weeks | 3–4+ months
Healing depends on your body, your jewelry, and how consistently you follow aftercare. Even a straightforward lobe piercing heals better when it is given time and left alone.
Downsizing
This is one of the most important parts of healing well. A post that is too long for too long can shift, catch, and create unnecessary irritation. The APP notes that many piercings require a downsize before they are fully healed.
Your initial jewelry is selected to allow room for swelling, but that does not mean it should stay that way for the full healing period. Many piercings heal better with a shorter post once swelling has gone down.
For lobe piercings, the initial downsize is typically considered around 6 weeks, depending on how you are healing. Some people need more time. Others are ready right on schedule.
A piercing starts in the studio, but the healing process is each client's responsibility and can’t happen here. At Stacked, we require our clients to come back in for a six-week checkup. This way, we can help troubleshoot any concerns you may have, take a peek at the healing piercing, and give advice as needed.
