Floating Navel Piercing Information
Pain Level 3–5/10
Pain is personal. Most clients find a floating navel piercing comparable in sensation to a traditional belly button piercing. What you feel, and for how long, depends on your anatomy and your individual threshold.
Floating Navel Piercing Healing Timeline
Healing Time: 6-12+ months
A floating navel piercing does not heal faster than a traditional one. What it can offer is a more stable healing environment for anatomy that cannot support a traditional curved barbell. A better fit from the start gives the piercing a better chance of healing well over time.
Downsizing
With a floating navel piercing, fit is everything. Initial jewelry is sized to accommodate swelling, but once that settles, jewelry that is too long can start to shift more than it should and create unnecessary irritation.
Because this piercing is chosen specifically around anatomy, the right timing for any adjustment depends on how the piercing is sitting, how the tissue is healing, and how much movement the area is getting day to day. We will guide that process with you rather than following a rigid timeline.
A piercing starts in the studio, but the healing process is each client's responsibility and can’t happen here. At Stacked, we require our clients to come back in for a six-week checkup. This way, we can help troubleshoot any concerns you may have, take a peek at the healing piercing, and give advice as needed.
